With Christmas in full swing, it is nigh impossible to escape the groove-worn Christmas songs of a bygone era.

But one always catches me. Makes me giggle and giggle and giggle and giggle.

Written by Eddie Pola & George Wyle“, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” is sung with the perfect amount of mirth and unbridled joy that only Andy Williams could bring.

I am sure, however, that none of them ever thought that their Christmas carol would be the soundtrack to one of the most inspired commercials from back in the day.

Created by Cliff Freeman & Partners (for those who remember the original Caesar’s Pizza commercials) their take on back to school has to be one of the most perfectly observed moments in every parent’s life.

Watching the Dad gleefully skip through the aisles of Staples, stockpiling every last bit of school-related supplies, contrasted against the despondent children is just pure magic for thirty seconds.

Some say the holidays are too commercial. When it’s a commercial like this, I am 100% okay with that.
